Summer School on the Polar Climate System

May 21-25, 2018 In conjunction with the British Antarctic Survey, the University of Toronto, the Alfred Wegener Institute at the Alfred Wegener Institute For Polar and Marine Research, and the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Nine International universities and organizations, including Research and the International Arctic Science Committee, have successfully held the International Summer School on the Polar Climate System. The summer school, a total of 11 foreign professors, 98 graduate students from 12 different countries study and young scholars to participate, the attention of the world's polar climate change, air - sea - sea ice, polar interaction system with low latitudes, polar model simulation, the relation between frontier question has carried on the extensive communication and discussion. This is the first international summer workshop with the theme of polar research in China, which has attracted extensive attention from domestic and foreign polar researchers and received high attention from our college and our school.

At the beginning of the summer school, the chairman of the organizing committee, professor Zhaomin Wang of Hohai University, and Professor John Turner, President of the international federation of meteorology and atmospheric sciences, British Antarctic service introduced the background and purpose of the lecture, the introduction of teachers, the course arrangement and teaching methods. During the period from 21st to 25th, the experts introduced the latest research progress of meteorology and oceanography. They also introduced some major international projects, and arranged two group practice courses to train everyone's ability of data processing and MITgcm model manipulation, and also promoted the domestic and foreign student's academic exchange. On the afternoon of the 25th, professor Zhaomin Wang, professor John Turner and professor Mark Seefeldt of the university of Colorado in the United States made a final summary and answer students' questions. Both domestic and foreign students actively participate in the discussion.
